Hard Cider Workshop

$155.00

Become a cider maker! Our hard cider workshop is a hands on experience for novice cider makers, amateurs, hobbyists, or anyone interested in the art of fermenting your own cider.

Workshop includes:

  • Lecture from Zeb Dewar, experienced cider maker

  • Apple tasting - experience what goes into the cider and qualities to look for in an apple

  • Cider tasting - taste a few high quality ciders

  • Orchard walk, weather permitting - see our certified organic orchard

  • Cider pressing - hands on learning

  • Take home 5 gallons of cider to ferment with the skills you’ve learned (bring your own fermentation bucket or 5 gallon carboy or take it home in individual gallon jugs we provide - you will still need to transfer to proper fermenting container at home).

  • An unforgettable experience!

About your guides:

Lecturer and Teacher: Zeb Dewar is an experienced cider maker and has now made cider for over 17 years, working for over 15 years as a cellar hand, assistant winemaker, and harvest manager at premium Willamette Valley and Columbia Gorge wineries. He has housed his cider press and made cider from Queener apples for 8 years.

Farmer and Host: Christina Fordyce has been farming for 5 years alongside her husband Graham who has been farming over 20 years. They acquired Queener Farm in spring of 2023 where they are now expanding their previous knowledge of apples and orchard management to care for this heirloom orchard of over 100 varieties.

What to know about the workshop:

  • Workshop lasts about 4 hours, give or take. The lecture lasts about an hour.

  • No meals are provided

  • While we can provide individual gallon jugs for you to take home your 5 gallons of cider, it is preferable that you bring your own fermentation bucket or carboy to fill.

  • Participants must be 21+

  • If you want to come with your spouse/partner/friend/family member, you may come as a pair. You may sign up with one registration. However, one registration equals 5 gallons of cider to take home. Your plus one can come to the whole workshop at no extra charge, but does not receive extra cider to take home. If there is enough extra cider at the end of the workshop pressing to take home more, your plus one may purchase an additional 5 gallons at the end of the workshop for $60. If your plus one wants to be guaranteed 5 gallons of their own for fermenting, they should sign up with their own individual registration.
